This mushroom grows in wood and it needs cold to fruit.
- Standard spawn medium: Sawdust/bran or rye grain.
- Fruiting substrate: lots of different woodchips.
- Optimum temperature during colonization: 18 – 22 C.
- Temperature during cropping: 10 – 15 C (outside).
- Humidity: > 90%
Outdoor cultivation of the woodlovers is possible in zones 6, 7 and 8. Protecting the beds from the low temperatures in winter they may also grow in zone 5. You can find out in which Plant Hardiness Zone you live here:
